East Anglia One
EAOW is currently developing the first project. This project, known as the East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm, is located in the south of the zone and covers an area of approximately 300km2. The closest distance to land is located 43.4km off the coast of Suffolk. EAOW has been provided with a grid connection offer from National Grid for 1,200MW at the grid connection point for East Anglia ONE.
A request for a Scoping Opinion for the offshore windfarm was submitted to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) in October 2010. A second request for a Scoping Opinion on the electricity transmission works for East Anglia ONE was submitted to the IPC in July 2011. The consent application for East Anglia ONE is expected to be submitted to the IPC in 2012. This will be a combined application for both the offshore windfarm and the electricity transmission works.
Many of the surveys undertaken as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the offshore windfarm have been completed, with the focus of the development moving towards assessing the results of those surveys.
Offshore and onshore surveys to support the electricity transmission works aspect of the Environmental Impact Assessment began in July 2011, following identification of an indicative cable corridor.
EAOW is committed to ensuring that the general public is kept informed of project developments in accordance with The Planning Act (2008). To facilitate this and enable the EAOW team to gain feedback and take into account local knowledge during the development of East Anglia ONE, a number of public exhibitions have been held in East Anglia. Future events are planned and will be held around key dates in the development timeline. These events will be advertised in the local media and through the project website. These events form part of our public engagement strategy outlined in our Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC).
The Scoping Reports, SoCC and material previously displayed at the Public Exhibition events can be viewed by registering on the East Anglia project website.
